Improvised Low Tunnel

With the weather being so unexpected this year, I didn’t want my potatoes to freeze. So I made an improvised low tunnel to protect them. There were some willow branches that I collected as well as some very flexible fig suckers lying around in the garden.

I just buried one leg of the branch in the soil and bended it carefully so it didn’t snap. Then I buried the other leg. That’s it! I didn’t connect them on top because it was such a sudden idea!

Then I covered it with 2 layers of plastic and put some bricks and stones to weigh it down.

It’s been over 2 months since I made it and it works fine. The only thing is that our cat discovered it and made it a home for himself !
